Laws regarding to the rights of our children by Kyle Cabaltica

Laws that countermeasure crimes, rising topics for self-beneficiaries for the citizens, gender equality, and state of economy is what the society focuses on, and being debated by those with legislative authorities. But what about the issue about the protection of our children? Are there any laws that has been established for the sake of children protection? Answers is: There ARE. Regulations like R.A 7610 “The Special Protection of Children Against Child Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act” is one of the laws that specializes about children protection, preventing all kinds of abuses for children and women alike by putting a penalty against those who commit these “crimes”. But people have been become unaware of it and thus abiding to those laws seems unsustainable, thus making it ineffective. And there are still increasing cases of the abuse yearly according to the PNP (Philippine National Police) statistics about the cases of child abuse. So what can we do to strenghten these rights? Should the government induce fear for the guilty by establishing a much extreme penalty? Or do we need more of these regulations? Best act is to regain awareness by building seminars for the parents to protect and teach their children, and the adults to regain their awareness about these laws. “Prevention is better than cure” -Desiderius Erasmus

By: Gannie Gonzales

Where is hope? To those children who has no place to go. What is home? To those who’s longing for warm hugs of the family that still unknown. Hunger. Hunger in striving their dreams to have a better future. But in this cruel society, dreams will only be just in our memories. Where is hope? Where innocent mind has been succumbed by the mentality of ignorance. We cannot stop this devastation. All we need is hope, a hope that we can nurture to the young ones. Negativity will always be there, madness is always upon us. It is up to us, how we can help to save the smile of a child in this sadistic and tragic world we where living before they subsumed to the hope of the fallen.

Let’s open our minds for the young ones by Yan Cyh Pambuan

“Childhood should be carefree, playing in the sun; not living a nightmare in the darkness of the soul.”
― Dave Pelzer,

Individuals may not be mindful, but any one of their peers, companions, or neighbors may be casualties of child manhandle. Each day, somebody encounters physical, enthusiastic, disregard, and/or sexual manhandle. Mishandle can lead to passing or harm for the rest of a victim’s life, from either the culprit or themselves. In arrange to avoid child mishandle society must: recognize the sorts of manhandle, get it common causes of manhandle, know the characteristics of abusers, and realize the impacts mishandle has, not fair on the child, but on families and communities over the world

Now tell me by Yasmin Franchesca Agus

Isn’t it bothering? How the little ones hurting? Isn’t it amazing? How to see those smiles flashing?

Every little dreams Can’t be figure out how it seems Like a calm flowing water Goes down into the stream

Deeper and deeper it falls While the freedom of the young growls Seeking for help countless times Just to enjoy how the sun shines

So tell me how is it surprising? To see the little ones crying How is it astonishing? To see their bodies slowly falling.

“Children are the gift from the Lord, they are reward from Him” (Psalms 127:3 The child protection system needs real changes and real solutions to underlying problems, not attacking symptoms with band-aids. It needs to prevent disturbing issues and tragic incidents from occurring rather than applying a cosmetic to a preventable wound. For that to happen the public’s chief informant, the media, has to get into the game. R.A 7610 or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act. Children should be seen, heard and believed. Every child deserves to grow up safe from any harm. So, we should raise awareness to this cause and show the importance of protecting the children of the present and the children of our future. They are precious and unfolding gifts from heaven and no one have the rights to steal their freedom and happiness.
